Violent video games and young people
Dear Editor,
I am writing in connection with an article I read in your newspaper last week. I would like to express my opinion about the influence that violent video games have on a teenager’s life. I am a teenager myself and I spend a fair amount of my free time on violent video games. From my point of view, here are some things that I have noticed.
Violent video games affect people in many different ways. For most teenagers, violent video games are just a way of relaxing. But there are people, of course, who get affected negatively from this type of video games and might perform things from the games in the real world, which most of the time, will result in an accident. I have many friends that play violent games, but they behave no differently from normal people. I don’t think that violent games will change the way that I behave and i would be different if I didn’t play them.
Personally, video games don’t affect my social life, either my friends’. As we usually hang out and have fun ourselves. On the other hand, some people get addicted to violent video games. As I said earlier, that may change their usual behavior and result in an unnecessary and terrible situation. Parents can prevent their kids from addiction to violent video games by setting limits to the time that they play this kind of video game.
In conclusion, I believe that a very small amount of teenagers gets addicted or affected negatively by violent video games and for the teenagers who do get this kind of bad influence can be helped by their parents, specialists or others.
