Smartphone Addiction

The enormous growth in the use of technology has led to radical changes in our everyday life and also in our way to communicate with other people living in another country or state. Nowadays, kids from all over the world own a smartphone from an early age, which is either harmful or beneficial for their personality. By owning a smartphone,one can have access to a wide range of information and applications around the world. That is why, we should focus on the drawbacks of smartphone addiction and on possible solutions to this problem.

 

One of the most common problems created by smartphone addiction is the discovery of new apps with which we can communicate with different people without taking under consideration their real identity. Besides, we might have the of getting in contact with people whose intention is basically bad. For example, the person may chat with you and ask to meet in a certain place, something that may be dangerous for the user. Another common problem is the easy accessibility of information and sites. Because a large percentage of people is using smartphones more and more, this may cause the deterioration and deconcentration of work performance at school or at workplace. They will not be able to concentrate during work and homework because of constantly checking and looking at new sites whose content is not appropriate for their age.

 

Nevertheless, there are ways in order to overcome this problem. First of all, the government is obliged to ensure that smartphone addiction does not occur in the country by implementing rules and restricting time to the use of smartphones. Campaigns and activities can help to diminish the hours spent in front of a mobile screen, because, in this way, they will use less their smartphone only to do the basic stuff that are required and will perform better at school. Moreover, advertisements can be put in television in order to share the drawbacks of such an addiction and to discourage the use of them on a daily basis, because smartphones can also be harmful to eyes. In doing so,the public will be aware of the disadvantages and the dark side of smartphone addiction.

 

In conclusion, although owning a smartphone has its benefits, its use must be discouraged as much as possible, because it has a lot as drawbacks that cannot be ignored. Therefore, we can all play an important role in this effort by taking part in campaigns whose aim is to raise awareness among all ages. What can be done in Greece to prevent people from spending a lot of time on their phones?
